Title: EFL Non-Residential Teacher

Locations: London King’s, London Uxbridge, Reading, Guildford, Worcester, Dover, Oxford, Edinburgh

Dates: July 2nd to July 29th 2026 (possibility of extension in some centres)

Position Overview
  • Responsible for planning and delivery of the academic program of EFL students
  • Represent MLA values
  • Reports to Director of Studies / Assistant Director of Studies
  • 6 days per week (Monday to Saturday)
  • No meals or accommodation (non‑residential)
Responsibilities

Teaching

  • Prepare and adapt lessons using pre‑made lesson plans
  • Liaise with co‑teachers
  • Teach EFL lessons across mixed ability classes
  • Inspire and motivate students
  • Differentiate learning and scaffold progress
  • Provide varied teaching activities
  • Support TASKtime book objectives
  • Cover for colleagues when necessary
  • Assist with speaking level testing
  • Co‑ordinate extra‑curricular activities and British Experience integration
  • Maintain tidy classroom and secure equipment
  • Participate in weekly CPD sessions

Administrative

  • Complete attendance registers promptly
  • Record progress marks accurately
  • Maintain lesson plans and work records
  • Prepare professional student reports
  • Assist student feedback completion

Training & CPD

  • Complete onboarding training courses and certificates
  • Attend induction and active participation in discussion
  • Read and understand MLA policies
  • Adhere to handbook guidelines
  • Set personal developmental goals
  • Attend and assist CPD sessions
  • Seek and provide professional development guidance
Requirements – Essential
  • Valid UK passport and right to work in the UK; DBS (England & Wales) or PVG (Scotland)
  • At least 2 references proving suitability to work with students under 18
  • CELTA / Trinity CertTESOL qualification, or a PGCE/QTS award related to YL/ESOL/English/Languages (ofqual recognised standards)
  • Other TEFL Level 5 certificates or TEFL certificates + proven observed experience considered
  • A Level 6 degree or equivalent qualifications/experience
  • AccessTEFL in progress (portfolio)
  • Experience of teaching EFL classes (including teaching practice)
Desirable – (Optional)
  • DELTA / Trinity DipTESOL / MA TESOL completed or in progress
  • Master’s Degree in ELT/TESOL (or related subjects)
  • EFL experience teaching teenagers
  • EFL Summer School Teaching experience in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS/PVG registered on the Update Service
  • First Aid Qualification

Schedule & Working Hours

Minimum 10 up to 36 working hours over a 7‑day session, including at least one full day off per week. Cover up to 36 contact teaching hours and up to 6 hours of meetings, administrative duties and CPD sessions.

Compensation
  • Hourly rate GBP 15 to 16 plus 15% to 17% for administrative duties
  • Non‑Residential staff can earn up to GBP 673 per week (plus 12.07% holiday pay)
