Job summary

A community advocacy charity in Birmingham is seeking new Trustees to join its Board. As a Trustee, you will champion the organization, ensuring its vision and values are upheld while contributing your skills in charity governance, finance, or fundraising. A strong commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion is essential. Expect to attend 6-8 meetings a year, either in person or online.

Could you give your time to support people with learning disabilities to get their voices heard? Do you have the skills and experience we need? CASBA Advocacy is looking for new Trustees to join the Board and we would love to hear from you.

What difference will you make?

As a Trustee you will champion the work of our staff and volunteers, supporting them through your knowledge and skills to help us continue to provide our services and empower our citizens. You will also use your skills and experience to strengthen our Board, contributing to discussions and decision making.

What are we looking for?

Applicants should demonstrate experience in at least one of the below areas:

  • Charity governance
  • Finance
  • Safeguarding
  • Fundraising

In addition, applicants should evidence:

  • Commitment to CASBA’s vision, mission and values
  • Willingness and ability to understand and accept responsibilities and liabilities as trustees and to act in the best interests of the organisation
  • Commitment to attend approximately 6‑8 Board meetings per year, either face to face or online
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically
  • Exercise sound, independent judgement
  • Work as part of a team
  • Willingness to contribute to discussions
  • A strong personal commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
What will you be doing?

We are looking for new Trustees to join our diverse Board. Further to a recent skills review, we are particularly interested in applicants with experience in:

  • Charity governance
  • Finance
  • Safeguarding
  • Fundraising

We would also be interested in hearing from applicants who have experience of senior leadership or with project management/governance.

In addition, you will:

  • Be willing to share your skills and experience to support CASBA to move forward
