Are you passionate about making a tangible impact locally and changing the lives of vulnerable young people? Roundabout is looking for Trainee Project Worker to support homeless young people aged 16-25 in Sheffield.
Summary of role
Roundabout are looking for an enthusiastic person who has a passion for learning and developing their skills working with homeless young people, with a view to gaining future employment as a keyworker within Roundabout. We aim to support the trainee to develop strong communication skills, resilience, excellent data recording skills and become an integral part of the team at the hostel.
The post requires you to work as part of a team to provide 24-hour support on a rota basis within an accommodation-based service which houses young people aged 16-21 years.
As the trainee, you will initially be working as part of a larger team and through training and development you will support and manage a reduced caseload of 2 young people.
You will develop skills around understanding relationships with young people, help guide them through their support plan process and complete assessments to identify goals through working in a strength-based approach. You will help deliver life-skills sessions in areas such as: managing a tenancy, self-care, budgeting, money management, managing health issues, claiming benefits, accessing external services, training, education and employment opportunities and learning to live successfully within communities. The hostel team also hold activity sessions for young people at the service and out in the wider community.
