The tractor driver is a key component of the team and will help us in the management of diverse habitats on over 600ha of grass farms and 2700ha of conservation sites across the county.

You must have practical, agricultural or conservation-based experience of tractor driving, general tractor maintenance and the associated equipment, plus knowledge of other machinery use, and ideally you will have experience of driving tractor/trailer combinations on busy roads and dual carriageways. Formal tractor driving qualifications will be advantageous.

The ideal candidate will have tractor driving expertise including experience of hay making, rolling, hedge cutting, harrowing and topping. An understanding and passion for tractors, and nature, would make you an excellent fit for this position so if you feel you fit the criteria on the job profile, please complete an application form, or provide a CV and covering letter, and send it to tamsin.harris@surreywt.org.uk no later than 14th January 2026. Interviews and practical tests may take place as applications are received so the role may be filled before the closing date (apply now if you are interested and have the skills we need).

The full job profile and application form are available on our website www.surreywildlifetrust.org or by contacting Tamsin Harris, Farms & Livestock Manager.

We are committed to having an inclusive and diverse workplace and encourage applications from backgrounds which may be underrepresented in our sector, including people from minority ethnic backgrounds and people with disabilities. Please let us know if you require any adjustment to make our recruitment process more accessible.

Surrey Wildlife Trust is one of 46 Wildlife Trustsacross the UK, a grassroots movement working to protect and connect at least 30 per cent of land and sea for nature's recovery by 2030. ‘Our vision for a wilder Surrey is a future with abundant wildlife and nature recovery networks rich in biodiversity.’ Over the year, the livestock team calves 70+ cows, makes 200 acres of hay, transports livestock across the county delivering them to 35+ conservation sites. The trust has a focus on high herd health and animal welfare. We maintain a modern, well serviced fleet of vehicles and farm machinery. Accommodation is not available for this employment.

Pond Farm, our primary base on Wisley Common (GU23 6QS), Bonhurst Farm in Bramley (GU5 OLA) and Elm Farm in Farleigh Common (CR6 9PE) are not readily accessible via public transport so the ability to drive and access to a vehicle are essential although suitable SWT work vehicles will also be available.
