Job summary

A community volunteering initiative in Great Yarmouth is seeking a Tour Guide to welcome visitors and share the history of the Fort. This role requires good communication skills, a love for the outdoors, and the ability to commit to at least two tours per month from May to September. Training will be provided, and volunteers will have the chance to learn about local history, meet new people, and support the Norfolk Archaeological Trust.

You will meet and greet our visitors on their arrival and take them around the site telling them about the history and people associated with the Fort.

Detailed description

What are we looking for?

  • A people person, someone who enjoys chatting with others and has good communication skills.
  • No previous knowledge of the site is needed, just a willingness to learn.
  • Able to commit to 2 tours a month from May - September.
  • Able to organise and/or attend events to promote volunteering and tours.
  • Able to attend ad-hoc pre-booked tours throughout the year.
  • Able to accompany community organised walks and act as a point of information about the Fort for those on the walk.
  • Good mobility to get around this rural site.
  • Someone who enjoys being outdoors.
