Job description
Job Summary

This post is only open to current employees of the Herefordshire & Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust & ICB. This 22.5‑hour per week role runs over three days between Monday and Friday and is part of the clinical tissue viability nursing service.

Our county‑wide team supports services in Herefordshire with wound care expertise and advice to practice nurses. The role requires travel across the county to support teams from a tissue viability quality governance perspective, including neighbourhood teams, community hospitals and specialist teams. Occasional work‑from‑home is acceptable.

This fixed‑term post (end March 2026) offers the chance to influence tissue viability care quality for the Trust and includes professional development, wellbeing support and flexible working options.

Responsibilities
  • Support delivery of excellent tissue viability care across Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care Trust and the community through governance facilitation and compliance with clinical standards.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date, evidence‑based policies, conduct audits and quality improvement initiatives, and deliver education across all clinical teams.
  • Visit community and ward‑based teams to identify knowledge gaps and provide bespoke training packages.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Nursing, Tissue Viability Nursing Lead and the nursing team to drive process improvement, KPI achievement and embedding of the core capabilities framework.
  • Collect and analyse data on education delivery and training compliance, highlighting trends in acquired pressure ulcers and using data to drive organisation‑wide improvement.
  • Participate actively in the patient safety incident response process for Tissue Viability and lead action planning to support continuous improvement.
Qualifications
  • Registered General Nurse (RGN) with valid NMC registration.
  • BSc (Hons) or equivalent; or Master’s level or equivalent qualification and/or experience.
  • Specialist qualification in Tissue Viability or equivalent experience.
  • Teaching, assessing or mentorship qualification (or relevant equivalent experience).
  • Will be required to provide original certificates to verify qualifications at point of offer.
Experience
  • Significant post‑registration nursing experience with a strong background in wound care and tissue viability.
  • Experience of mentorship and involvement in developing, reviewing and implementing guidelines/protocols and care pathways.
  • Proven track record of delivering education and training programmes to multidisciplinary teams.
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
  • Experience leading clinical practice and service development.
  • Experience in audit, policy development and clinical governance.

Salary & Contract

Band 8a – £55,690 to £62,682 a year, pro rata; fixed‑term, 4 months, part‑time – flexible working; contract expires March 2026.
