This role is based in Edinburgh within the Radar and Advanced Targeting line of business, a world-leading manufacturer of radars, lasers and infrared countermeasure systems. This position supports the future of the business by joining the Operations team and building cross-functional relationships across the IPT.
What You’ll Do / Responsibilities
- Test & fault diagnosis of complex system level products and their associated sub-assemblies in a high-technology aerospace & defence manufacturing environment
- Carry out fault diagnosis to component level
- RF testing
- Identify and pursue solutions to shortcomings with respect to test equipment, test methods and test documentation
- Interpretation and adherence to test specifications
- Interpretation of technical drawings and circuit diagrams
- Electrical Safety Testing
- Product Acceptance Testing
- Vibration & Thermal testing
- Maintain effective and proactive communication with Project, Quality and Engineering functions
- Ensure standard handover procedures and effective communication across all products
- Responsibility for designated 5s areas in line with daily/weekly/monthly sign-off sheets
- Work closely with Systems and Electronics engineers to solve real integration problems on complex systems
- Potential to contribute towards investigation and analysis of leading-edge development methodologies and influence future development at Leonardo
- Most training delivered through on-the-job experience
What You’ll Bring / Qualifications
- HND or above in systems, electrical, or RF engineering
- Understanding of electrical motors, gimbals and how they work
- Good understanding of measurement and test principles and equipment
- Understanding of RF and Microwave technology at subsystem level is advantageous
- Experience with focusing cameras/optics and effects at system level
- Understanding and standard safe-working practices for integrating or aligning an electro-mechanical device
- Applying statistical process control (SPC) for fault/trend diagnosis within a production environment
- Experience in working in clean rooms; understanding of its importance to quality
