Job description

The Technical Consultant is responsible for technical support of the scheme providing knowledge to both internal and external stakeholder, from eligibility, onboarding through to claims settlement support. Working alongside the Operations managers, they will be accountable for expert knowledge and provide support to leadership,whilst broadening knowledge within Flood Re. They will have a key role in continuous improvement across the function and be SME for our material outsourcers, external vendors, and internal stakeholders.

  • Review, monitor and support all core operational processes from participant onboarding, eligibility, and the settlement of claims to agreed service levels and operational metrics.
  • Operate process controls and act to address any risks or issues as they arise and support Head of Operations in assessing the effectiveness of controls. Responsible for ensuring all controls are completed and attested to on a periodic basis.
  • Ensure operational support is provided to Operational assistants and the operational manager to do build knowledge and expertise within the operations function.
  • Track and report on core operational process performance, act to address any issues that arise, and lead on continuous service improvement activities.
  • Provide management information to inform continuous process improvement and scheme changes and support change initiatives as required.
  • Develop appropriate guidance and training materials for both scheme participants and internal resource to support the competent use of scheme processes and systems.
  • Work with Systems & Data Analyst and Data Quality Manager to drive improvement of data quality to support the Operations Team and underpin the wider use of core data by other parts of the organisation.
  • Develop and support the creation and development of new systems.
  • Supporting the Systems & Data Analyst with requirements gathering of continuous improvement initiatives within the bordereaux management system and data warehouse. Act as a Subject Matter Expert across the lifecycle of a FR risk.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with cross functional departments including Reserving and Finance, Cedents and key operational vendors.
  • Provide expert guidance with cross function departments providing resource and support for wider projects and continuous improvement.
  • Manage and support internal and external auditing and implement positive procedural change.
  • Review cedent data and use to further relationship management.
Knowledge and Experience
  • Commercial experience within the Insurance Industry with a key focus on Controls and Operating Procedures.
  • Experience with the full lifecycle of an insurance risk from underwriting and rating through to Claims Settlement, including awareness of downstream Finance and Reserving processes.
  • Strong Experience of information ingestion and usage.
  • Experience of managing service standards and customer-focused KPI’s.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience of working with third-party vendors in Insurance
  • Ability to constructively challenge stakeholders whilst maintaining strong and collaborative relationships with all parties
  • Ability to work to and meet tight and demanding deadlines.
