Job summary

A leading manufacturer of composite materials in Lancashire is looking for a Technical Manager. This role involves overseeing the technical team for quality checks, liaising with clients to adjust products to their specifications, and staying updated on new industry technologies. The ideal candidate will have a BSc in Chemistry, previous experience in organic chemistry, and strong leadership skills.

Qualifications

  • Educated to a BSc or higher in Chemistry or another relevant field.
  • Previous experience in organic chemistry and working with composites.
  • Demonstrable experience in people leadership.
  • Strong technical ability and an understanding of how to interpret and present complex data.
  • Familiarity with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality standards.

What You'll Be Doing

The role's primary focus will be on overseeing the site technical team as they perform quality checks on incoming raw materials and optimise formulations for new and existing products. You will also be expected to liaise with customers to develop and adjust products to their given specifications, as well as keep up to date with the relevant, new industry technologies as they appear.

What You'll Bring

Essential

  • Educated to a BSc or higher in Chemistry or another relevant field
  • Previous experience in organic chemistry and working with composites
  • Demonstrable experience in people leadership
  • Strong technical ability and an understanding of how to interpret and present complex data.
  • Familiarity with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality standards in laboratory and industrial settings

Desirable

  • Experience working with thermosetting materials and injection moulding
  • Experience adjusting formulations to client specifications
