Senior Talent Acquisition Partner | UK&I Tech Hiring Expert | DEIB - Driven Talent Engagement

Role: Technical Development Team Lead

Location: Edinburgh and London, UK

The Role

As a Technical Development Team Lead, you will be a key member of long‑lived delivery teams who shape delivery, provide technology leadership, guide and support the engineering team for the delivery of high‑quality, scalable, secure, and efficient software solutions. You will ensure the team is set up to accept, prioritise and deliver work for multiple products/projects and deliver to client standards with enduring quality.

Your Responsibilities
  • Contribute to implementation such as coding, automated testing and creation of high‑level designs and architecture.
  • Ensure technical needs are merged with feature changes, including operational cost reviews, quality, performance, resilience and recovery, and champion tech‑debt reduction.
  • Lead defect triage and resolution to maintain stability and performance.
  • Consolidate estimates using input from specialists in the team.
  • Ensure work meets criteria with clear scope and outcomes, prioritise backlogs and manage the flow of work through the team, covering automation techniques to improve flow.
  • Monitor team metrics (SLAs, OKRs, KPIs) and uphold estimation discipline.
  • Work with engineering and test leads to refine processes, tools and practices, embedding agile principles, CI/CD, DevSecOps, SRE approaches, AI, etc.
Your Profile
  • Technical background in one or more of engineering, architecture, DevOps, technical BA, automated testing roles.
  • Programming skills in Java, AWS and Python.
  • Experience with Business Change and IT Delivery, both Waterfall and Agile environments.
  • Experience using team productivity and work planning tools, e.g. Atlassian JIRA, Confluence.
  • Working in team building software across multiple platforms and disciplines in a regulated environment.
  • Knowledge of engineering lifecycle and practices, branching, code review, release governance and change control.
  • Experience with engineering tool chains and alternative testing approaches such as Test‑Driven Development (TDD).
  • Understanding of software design patterns and architecture patterns including cloud, PaaS, third‑party integration, microservices, APIs, event‑driven systems and data platforms.
  • Experience with build processes, automation, deployment techniques, observability and monitoring.
