Overview

Full Stack Tech Lead Developer

Reporting To: Group Engineering Manager

Location: Remote working, with travel to Bournemouth or Bristol once or twice a month

Salary: Up to £85,000

Job Type: Full Time 37.5 hours a week

Our Development Culture
  • We work in a product-focused agile environment, utilising scrum methodology.
  • Every team member is involved in our sprint planning, stand-ups and retrospective ceremonies. Our development process favours pair-programming, code reviews, automated testing and frequent collaboration. We prefer clean code to over-engineering.
  • You will be hands on with a roughly 70/30 split for tech implementation and team lead duties and you will be directly line managing up to 3 developers but leading the team as part of a product triad.
  • Our current stack is MySql/PostgreSQL/DynamoDB (databases), Ruby-on-Rails and PHP (Symfony) backend API, VueJs/TypeScript (front end), Python, NodeJS (AWS Lambdas), GitHub, Semaphore (CI) and GitHub Actions, Heroku and Cypress (for testing/staging).
  • We enjoy the challenge of being able to use multitude of languages and technologies since we realise these are only the tools we use on our journey to deliver the best experience and value to our users.
  • We are encouraged to learn and are supported whatever our learning style, books, online courses, certifications and others.
  • We aim to be truly full-stack covering database, back-end and front-end development. We all have the responsibility of looking after the AWS Infrastructure, DevOps, CI/CD, dependent on the experience level.
  • Our systems serve thousands of requests per minute, and our databases have 100s of millions of records, therefore we design and architect scalability-first. We manage caches across a variety of end points, and we work with third-party integrations.
  • We also have opportunities to grow as well-rounded developers capable of requirements gathering, project management, and research.
  • We are fully equipped and organised to work remotely with an expectation to come to the office once or twice a month to exchange ideas and knowledge or just enjoy the time with other people.
