We are looking for an inspirational and innovative teacher of Social Science with a strong background in at least two of the following subjects: Criminology, Sociology, RPE, Psychology. You will not be required to teach all subjects unless you wish to.

Full or part time positions are considered. TLR/RADA opportunities may exist for the right candidate.

Our school has seen growth at Sixth Form, and this new role supports that growth. You will join an experienced and committed department, delivering creative and vibrant lessons that enthuse and motivate students to learn and achieve. Excellent communication skills and enthusiasm for professional development are essential.

Information about the School

Chelmer Valley High School – An Engineering & Leadership Specialist Academy – is located north of Chelmsford, in the village of Broomfield. We became an Academy on 1st August 2011. The school is highly oversubscribed and has a positive atmosphere. The current roll is nearly 1200 students, including 190 in the Sixth Form.

Major developments are evident across the site, including state‑of‑the‑art technology and science facilities, a performing arts centre, a purpose‑built sixth‑form building and modern PE facilities.

Student expectations are high and various programmes provide additional help for those who need it and activities for Gifted and Talented students.

Leadership is strong, with a focus on developing teaching and learning skills and qualifications. Internal promotion is encouraged and many staff have progressed to leadership roles. The school has been a training school and works closely with teacher training hubs.
