A leading educational institution in Preston is seeking a Teacher of Criminology to join their committed team. The role involves planning and delivering high-quality lessons to over 700 students, ensuring they achieve excellent outcomes. Main Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will become part of a highly motivated, supportive and collaborative team. The department works collaboratively to share resources and deliver a consistently high-quality curriculum and assessment experience for all students. The department includes 9 staff members with both full time and part time staff.
The WJEC Level 3 Applied Diploma in Criminology is a popular subject at the college, delivered to over 700 students. Year 12 includes Unit 1 Changing Awareness of Crime and Unit 2 Criminological Theories and Year 13 includes Unit 3 Crime Scene to Courtroom and Unit 4 Crime and Punishment.

The Criminology department is looking for an excellent classroom teacher, with a high level of communication and interpersonal skills, with a relevant degree and teaching qualification (if no teaching qualification is held must be willing to work towards this). The successful candidate should be able to display a high level of skill in the management of learning with a commitment to a student-centred approach to the learning process. You should have an awareness and understanding of current developments in the subject area, the ability to manage student progress and achievement, and have a high level of organisational and administrative skills. You should have the ability to set and achieve high standards for yourself, colleagues, and students.
You should display the values, attitudes, and behaviours consistent with the Catholic Ethos of the College and have a commitment to equality/diversity and the safeguarding of young people and vulnerable adults.
Hours: Between full time and 0.5 fte – We will always try to accommodate the preference of the best candidate(s).
Salary: Paid on the Sixth Form College’s Salary Structure pro to £33,465 to £51,714 per annum (dependent upon experience). For an outstanding candidate the college will consider a ‘golden hello’ recruitment payment.
