Tax & Accounts Professional – Cambridge
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Tax/Accounts Professional to join our clients Cambridge office. This is a hands‑on role with genuine autonomy, ideal for someone confident in personal tax compliance and comfortable managing their own client portfolio. It offers autonomy, variety, and direct client contact within a collaborative team.
Responsibilities
- Prepare Self‑Assessment tax returns for individuals, landlords, sole traders, partnerships, and directors.
- Review client information, identify missing details, and liaise directly with clients.
- Ensure all personal tax work is accurate, compliant, and delivered on time.
- (Desirable) Prepare year‑end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and small limited companies.
- Assist with bookkeeping and VAT returns when required.
- Act as the first point of contact for your clients, handling queries promptly and professionally.
- Manage your workload independently while supporting the wider team during busy periods.
About You
Essential:
- Strong personal tax compliance experience within a UK accountancy practice.
- Confident communicating directly with clients.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Good knowledge of HMRC processes and personal tax legislation.
- Experience preparing Self‑Assessment tax returns for individuals and unincorporated businesses.
- Competent IT skills, including accounting/tax software (ideally TaxCalc) and Microsoft Office.
Desirable:
- Experience preparing accounts for unincorporated businesses or small companies.
- Bookkeeping and VAT return experience.
- Familiarity with Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage.
Qualifications
- AAT qualified, ATT/ACA/ACCA part‑qualified, or a strong QBE will all be considered.
- Study support may be available but is not required.
