Norwood is on the lookout for passionate individuals to join us as Support Workers in the unique and vibrant home for adults with neurodevelopmental disabilities in Redbridge.

About the Home at Southwood Gardens

The property is a large detached two‑storey house with three bedrooms on each floor, a modern kitchen, dining area, bathroom, lounge, utility room, and a leafy garden. An office is available for staff administration.

The location is close to the town centre, shops, amenities, and public transport, with driveway parking.

We support three women and two men in their 50s and 60s who have moderate learning disabilities, autism and health needs, communicating verbally and with hand signs.

Your Role at Norwood

As a Support Worker, you will empower individuals with learning disabilities and autism to lead independent, fulfilling lives. Your responsibilities include:

  • Guiding and supporting individuals in day‑to‑day activities.
  • Encouraging development of personal skills through hobbies and interests.
  • Accompanying individuals to routine appointments.
  • Teaching essential life skills such as budgeting, shopping, and managing bills.
  • Assisting with personal care and, if required, administering medication.
  • Contributing to household tasks such as cleaning and cooking.
  • Providing day‑to‑day support to help people be independent and live a fulfilling life.
Essential
  • Experience working with people with neurodevelopmental disabilities, epilepsy and mobility needs.
  • Understanding of non‑verbal communication such as Makaton.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding.
  • Flexibility to commit to 39 hours per week, including some weekends.
Desirable
  • Emergency First Aid at Work certificate.
  • Moving and Positioning Certificate.
  • Administering Medication Certificate.
