Job summary

A community support organization is looking for a Support Practitioner in Glasgow to provide individualized support to adults with complex mental health needs. You will deliver practical and emotional assistance, engage with families and professionals, and participate in on-call duties. Full training is provided, and qualifications are not required. Ideal candidates will value respect, compassion, and inclusivity. Flexible full-time and part-time hours are available, along with a pension scheme and generous holiday benefits.

Qualifications

  • No previous work experience required; full training will be provided.

Service: Turning Point Scotland’s Glasgow Mental Health & Huntington’s Service

Location: Glasgow

Hours: Full Time & Part Time available

Salary: £24,242 – £25,264 (pro rata)

Contract: Permanent

Turning Point Scotland’s Glasgow Mental Health & Huntington’s Service provides support to individuals diagnosed with complex and enduring mental health conditions and who have Huntington's disease to have as fulfilling a life as possible. We are committed to a trauma‑informed approach, supporting individuals to find their own strengths and build confidence.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualised support to adults with a wide range of needs, either 1:1 or as part of a team.
  • Deliver practical and emotional support to help clients achieve personal outcomes in areas such as safety, meaningful activities, community involvement, physical health, relationships and emotional wellbeing.
  • Work with the team to tailor support to each person’s wishes and personalised support package.
  • Participate in the on‑call rotation and provide sleep‑overs when required, and be prepared to work evenings and weekends if needed.
  • Engage with families, friends, health and social work professionals, advocacy services and staff members to ensure person‑centred service.
  • Use IT skills in all aspects of work.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • No previous work experience required; full training will be provided.
  • Strong values of respect, compassion, inclusion, and integrity.
  • Willingness to register with the SSSC within 6 months of start date, where applicable.
  • Valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is required.
  • Personal care, cooking and housekeeping skills are required.
  • Service users will be involved in the support planning process.
