Supervising Social Worker – Compass Community
Compass Community is seeking an experienced Supervising Social Worker to join our team in Cardiff. The successful candidate will manage a caseload of up to 13 fostering families across South Wales and support our foster parents to deliver high‑quality services for children and young people.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out a caseload of 13–15 fostering families, providing support and guidance as required.
- Develop and tailor packages of care to meet the needs of each young person.
- Provide wrap‑around support to foster carers and participate in an out‑of‑hours on‑call service.
- Lead and champion positive change within the organisation, influencing and effecting change in foster care practices.
- Maintain professional pride by ensuring that every day you make a positive difference for our young people.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Have an approach that is reflective and creative when working with foster carers and young people.
- Are committed to providing wrap‑around support to our foster carers.
- Have a relevant professional qualification in Social Work.
- Are a registered social worker in Wales or are willing to be registered (fee covered by Compass).
- Have experience in fostering‑related social work, child social care, or a looked‑after children’s team.
- Can demonstrate evidence of identifying the needs of young people.
- Have a good knowledge of fostering regulations, childcare law, and safeguarding issues.
- Can make objective professional assessments of children and young people.
- Have access to a car and a valid driving licence.
- Desirable: Speaking Welsh, although not essential.
