About Us

Owen Fabrications Ltd was established in 1990 and has provided on‑site welding and cutting services to a wide range of construction projects, including major multi‑storey developments, rail/road bridge construction, dismantling, temporary works, and propping. We also offer general on‑site welding and support for various customer needs.

Job Description

Takes structural steel requirements for commercial, residential and infrastructure projects and creates 3D models for client approval, as well as fabrication drawings and NC files for workshop production. Works with clients’ structural engineers and the engineers engaged by Owen Fabrications to ensure technical specifications are clearly defined and accurate for fabrication and installation. Conducts surveys as required to capture all salient details of new and existing structures.

Duties

• Interpret architects and engineers drawings, specifications and calculations
• 3D modelling and detailing of buildings, structures & associated items using Advance Steel/Tekla detailing software, ensuring compliance with industry standards
• Preparation of detailed general arrangement and site installation drawings
• Creation of fabrication drawings to enable accurate manufacture
• Prepare lists for manufacture and purchase, including bolt lists
• Support the workshop in placing material orders with suppliers
• Liaise with architects, engineers, clients and sales team
• Work with structural engineers, production & installation teams
• Conduct site surveys when required
• Manage RFIs and site queries
• Assist workshop with drawing queries
• Prepare drawing registers and issue arrangement drawings, parts and fixing lists

Qualifications & Skills

• Minimum of 3 years experience of structural steel in the UK
• Previous steel detailing experience using Advance Steel software
• Attention to detail
• Ability to work under own initiative to gain all details required, in order to produce accurate drawings
• Confident in working independently with minimal supervision
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Able to work to tight deadlines
