Closing date: 28 December 2025
This is a 6 PA post based at the purpose built Hopewood site which opened in 2018. The Specialty Doctor will be employed by Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and will join the fifteen other NHS Consultants, two Academic Consultants and a Specialty Doctor in the CAMHS service.
This is an excellent and career-enhancing opportunity to work within a high-quality Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service. This post will provide medical and psychiatric support to the ward.
The post holder will be expected to support and consult to the multidisciplinary team to offer psychiatric expertise and direct involvement in the areas of: assessment and diagnosis, pharmacological treatments, use of the Mental Health Act (if Section 12 approved) and other relevant legislation in the management of children and young people, and the management of complex and/or risky presentations and severe symptomatology.
In addition, the post holder with support from the consultant is expected to provide psychiatric advice and expertise directly to young people admitted to the ward, and to their parents/carers to support their decision-making and involvement in their young person's recovery.
The post holder will contribute to chairing ward review (on an MDT rotational basis), provide verbal and written medical feedback at ward reviews, and regularly review patients admitted to the ward.
Involvement in other clinical tasks for the team (such as therapy provision) may be possible but would be negotiated through job planning and would take second priority to the key psychiatric and leadership tasks.
