The University Hospital of North Midlands, Mid Cheshire and East Cheshire NHS Trusts are working collaboratively to form a Pathology network in line with a NHSI directive.

Specialist Biomedical Scientist (AFC Band 6, Permanent). Department of Infection Science (Bacteriology).

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic HCPC registered Specialist BMS to join our team. You must be a strong team player who has a positive attitude to change. You must have excellent organisational and communication skills. The successful applicant will work as part of a team of virology and bacteriology staff based at the Royal Stoke University Hospital site.

The Infection Science Department at Royal Stoke University Hospital in Stoke-on-Trent provides a comprehensive range of diagnostic and clinical services for two acute Hospitals, local GUM clinics and a wide range of community based health providers. We also provide laboratory services to GPs and wider service users in the surrounding area. The Bacteriology department is equipped with Vitek2, UF-5000i, MS PRIME, BACT/ALERT VIRTUO, BDMax and WASPLab. The hours of work for this post will be 37.5 hours per week over a 24/7 period. Applicants will be expected to have significant bacteriology experience preferably in an NHS Lab.
