Harrison Drury is a market‑leading firm of solicitors with offices across the North West servicing both business and private clients. We have been named in the Top 100 Best Companies to work for in the UK for five consecutive years.

We are an employer of choice because our culture challenges the conventional law‑firm approach and focuses on delivering outstanding results for our clients while attracting and developing brilliant people.

The land and property dispute resolution team is recognised in the Legal 500 for its technical expertise and provides quality commercial services to clients. We act for businesses and individuals across England in the full range of contentious property disputes – from landlord and tenant and real estate litigation to property contract claims and professional negligence claims involving property professionals.

Due to recent expansion, we are looking to recruit an NQ – 4 years PQE solicitor to work out of our Kendal or Preston office. The successful candidate will manage their own caseload, assist senior fee earners, and will have the opportunity to grow within the team, both internally and externally. We provide the support and investment needed to help them achieve personal and professional goals as a property litigation solicitor.

The team and the work we do

The team consists of 3 partners, 1 legal director, 2 associates, 3 solicitors, 1 trainee and 2 paralegals. Our clientele ranges from independent business owners and retail occupiers to large property development companies and individuals in both the commercial and residential sectors. Work is varied, challenging and interesting, covering landlord and tenant matters such as lease renewals, dilapidations, break clauses and forfeiture; trespass and possession instructions; boundary disputes; rights of way/easements and restrictive covenants. Team members work closely from Preston and Kendal and from all other offices as required to support clients and internal relationships. Training and development opportunities are provided to junior solicitors to build commercial and technical skills, and business development is encouraged for all team members.

Role
  • Develop relationships with clients
  • Take responsibility for matters under supervision
  • Draft correspondence and court papers
  • Liaise and correspond with the court, instruct counsel and experts
  • Attend court hearings and all‑party meetings
  • Support other team members and demonstrate appropriate management and supervision of junior members and support staff
  • Develop knowledge, experience and expertise in the subject areas
  • Deliver high‑quality legal advice
  • Collaborate with other teams at Harrison Drury
  • Promote the values of Harrison Drury internally and externally
Skills and experience

  • Based in either Kendal or Preston office
  • Experience in a wide range of property litigation cases (real property, landlord/tenant disputes, contractual disputes)
  • Ability to manage own caseload with appropriate supervision
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent organisation and planning skills; ability to prioritise work to meet timescales and improve processes
  • Willingness to engage in business development and grow the property litigation offering at Harrison Drury
