Overview

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Social Worker to join the Child Safeguarding Team in Daventry. This ongoing locum role offers a competitive hourly rate and the chance to undertake meaningful statutory work that protects children and supports families through complex safeguarding concerns.

The role focuses on delivering high‑quality, child‑centred social work practice, contributing to positive and sustainable outcomes for children at risk of harm.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of children subject to Child in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), and Public Law Outline (PLO) processes.
  • Undertake Section 47 enquiries and statutory assessments under the Children Act 1989.
  • Identify risks, assess safety, and develop effective safeguarding plans.
  • Create, review, and update child‑focused care and protection plans in partnership with families and professionals.
  • Prepare high‑quality reports, assessments, and statements for court proceedings.
  • Attend court hearings and provide evidence where required.
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies including police, health, education, early help, and voluntary organisations.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and analytical case records using the council’s electronic case management system.
Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work.
  • Current registration with Social Work England.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance.
  • Recent experience in statutory children’s social work.
  • Proven experience managing Child in Need, Child Protection, and court cases.
  • Strong assessment, report‑writing, and analytical skills.
