Sheet Metal Worker

£18.50 per hour + overtime + benefits

DCS Engineering are searching for an experienced Sheet Metal Worker to join our clients team, fabricating, assembling, and repairing precision sheet metal components for aircraft and aerospace structures.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled sheet metal professional with strong attention to detail and a passion for quality craftsmanship within a world‑class aerospace manufacturing environment. You’ll play a key role in ensuring components meet exacting industry standards and customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Fabricate, assemble, and install sheet metal parts for aircraft and aerospace components in line with engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and specialist machinery such as shears, brakes, presses, and CNC equipment to cut, bend, and shape metal sheets.
  • Perform drilling, riveting, and fastening operations to join metal parts, ensuring durable and secure assemblies.
  • Repair and modify existing aircraft components by reshaping or replacing damaged parts to original specification.
  • Carry out inspections of sheet metal components and assemblies to ensure compliance with aerospace quality standards and tolerances.
  • Work collaboratively with engineers, quality inspectors, and colleagues to resolve fabrication challenges and maintain high production standards.
  • Maintain a safe and organised work environment, adhering to all HSE regulations and using PPE appropriately.
  • Accurately document all work carried out, including materials used, processes followed, and inspection results.
Key Skills & Experience:
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in sheet metal work, ideally within the aerospace sector.
  • Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and aerospace specifications.
  • Skilled in working with aluminium, titanium, and stainless steel.
  • Competent in the use of precision measuring instruments (e.g., callipers, micrometres, height gauges).
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to maintain quality under tight tolerances.
  • Effective communication skills and a strong team player.
  • Physically capable of lifting and handling large metal sheets safely.
  • Commitment to high standards of workmanship and continuous improvement.
