Senior Quantity Surveyor – Balfour Beatty plc

Join our Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick team as a Senior Quantity Surveyor and build proud infrastructure. Based at the Westlakes office, the role often includes site visits to Sellafield, Seascale, Cumbria.

What You’ll Be Doing

We’re looking for an Engineering Construction Senior Quantity Surveyor with experience in the nuclear or energy sector to manage commercial activities on complex industrial projects, including energy and utilities infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will have experience on large‑scale engineering construction projects such as power generation, water treatment, energy infrastructure, or nuclear decommissioning, with a good understanding of NEC contracts. Responsibilities include cost management, contract administration and commercial reporting across multidisciplinary engineering projects. You will work closely with technical teams to manage interfaces, support successful project delivery and seek to minimise costs while enhancing value for money. Typical qualifications: Chartered Member of the RICS, ICES or CIOB; experience of managing a small team; mentoring others; maintaining CPD.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Ability to lead and mentor junior commercial staff, providing guidance and support.

  • Assist with the preparation of the monthly Cost and Value Reconciliation (CVR).
  • Preparation of the Application for Payment.

  • Use of CEMAR.
Essential Requirements
  • BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent knowledge.
  • MRCIS/MCInstCES/MCIOB or working towards them.
  • CSCS Card (Professional Qualified Person).
