Its track-record to date includes more than 304 miles of tunnels, 11,930 miles of roads (including 2,485 miles of highways), 2920 miles of railroad lines (including 434 miles of high-speed railroads) and 16,994 miles of road maintenance and repair.# **Job Description:****Position Summary*** Work as a key strategic partner and trusted legal advisor to the Project Management team across the whole life cycle of the project/s.Provide professional, tailored legal advice including but not limited to:* general interpretation and application of the main project contracts (and various supply chain documents), third party and regulated obligations (where appropriate);* supporting the procurement team in drafting and negotiating supply chain contracts;* assisting in avoiding and reducing formal claims and disputes, and/or assisting in the preparation and management of formal disputes (in conjunction with external counsel as required);* interpretation, application and preparation of compensation events and relief events;* assistance and management of various data capture requirements, document management and preparation, record keeping requirements etc;* advising in relation to UK regulatory frameworks including safety, environmental obligations and data protection requirements.* Monitoring, training and ensuring compliance in relation to various applicable law and regulatory requirements.* Together with the UK&I Legal team, identify and contribute to the development and implementation of strategies, policies and practices for the Project in areas of legal, contractual and regulatory compliance.* Preparation of effective, legally enforceable contractual documentation.* Manage legal aspects of the Project, specifically ensuring all contractual arrangements are legally compliant and effective and will provide general advice to the Project Leadership when necessary.**Qualifications / Experience*** Admitted as a Solicitor of England and Wales (a lawyer qualified in another common law jurisdiction may also be considered).* At least 7 years of professional experience as an unrestricted practising lawyer skilled in negotiating, drafting, preparing and providing legal advice across a broad range of project/supply contracts.* Highly desirable is experience with resolving disputes, claims, managing litigation, preparation and negotiation of settlements agreements.* Demonstrated experience acting for or within a mega infrastructure/civil construction project portfolio* Knowledge of safety and environmental, contract and commercial legislation in the United Kingdom – England and Wales.* Sound working knowledge of contract law and application of relevant aspects in a construction civil and government project environment* Previous experience in working within a project-oriented team.* Preparedness to coordinate the organisation of legal information sessions, when necessary.**Relevant Skills and Competencies**The following training and skills will ensure that the incumbent is able to succeed and thrive in this role:* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong client-focus and ability to work proactively with all types of stakeholders;* Strong attention to detail, analytical and drafting skills* Excellent written and verbal communication skills* Ability to deal confidently and manage conflict, disputes and grievances with key internal and external stakeholders in a constructive manner* Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure to meet deadlines* Ability and desire to work in an agile, fast paced environment* Ability to work autonomously with a discipline around organization and time management* Highly motivated and professional attitude* Desire to add value to the completion and delivery of a major project and a passion for the Construction industry* Ability to deal with effectively and calmly with people and situations* Advanced computer skills on MS Office**Responsibilities and duties**Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: A) General Responsibilities* Continually maintain knowledge of, and comply with, all relevant Ferrovial Construction policies and procedures* Understand, uphold and comply at all times with the Ferrovial Group Code of Ethics* Always represent the Project, Ferrovial, and its associated entities professionally, positively and respectfully* Seek out opportunities to demonstrate safety leadership to fellow employees, customers, subcontractors, suppliers and others* Actively participate in continual improvement of the JV and Ferrovial’s systems, policies and processes.* Notify manager without delay of any injury or incident (safety, environmental, complaint) or hazardous event, situation or environment (whether involving/impacting self or others)* Be proactive in knowing and complying with particular requirements of each work site Health & Safety Plan and procedures including emergency response procedures and site rules. Similarly, the Environmental Plan.* Participate proactively and positively in safety activities including forums, drills, trials and inspections* Take appropriate care of Ferrovial property including documents and data and ensure that confidentiality and security requirements are maintained at all times* Ensure own fitness for work at all times in accordance with Ferrovial’s policy and support colleagues, in particular direct reports, in ensuring they are always fit to work safely.B) Position-Specific Responsibilities* Oversee and manage all legal aspects of project delivery for a major project.* Provide drafting, negotiation, and settlement of downstream procurement contracts and advise project team on project contracts.* Set up and monitor contract administration procedures and provide training as required.* Identify and provide advice on risks during delivery.* Advise on claims and disputes in conjunction with external counsel as required.* Provide assistance and advice in dispute avoidance, management and resolution.* Attend tender, contract and dispute resolution discussions and negotiations.* Prepare reports, memoranda, correspondence, and other documents, as necessary.* Taking a proactive role in the legal and commercial processes relating to the Project’s operations and relevant phases.* Responding to enquiries and complaints in a timely manner* Notifying the relevant project member and the client representative of the specific complaints* Assisting the project team in organising relevant approvals and permits**Other requirements relevant to the position**This position requires you to:* Continuous use of keyboard and computer.* Regularly use technology such as phones and virtual software.* Wear PPE on site at all times.* Travel to projects within the United Kingdom & Ireland.**Seize the challenge.
