Job description

£50-60k + Bens

We're looking for a Senior Composite Design Engineer who can lead the design and analysis of pipeline, end fittings and interfaces incorporating the use of additive composite manufacturing technology. You'll take ownership of delivering qualified design solutions on client based development programs, manage 3rd party suppliers of engineering services and monitor compliance to applicable design codes, practices, performance standards and specifications including ISO 9001.

Location: Southampton

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and analysis of pipeline components, end fittings and interfaces using additive composite manufacturing technology.
  • Deliver qualified design solutions on client-based development programs.
  • Manage 3rd party suppliers of engineering services.
  • Monitor compliance to applicable design codes, practices, performance standards and specifications including ISO 9001.
Skills and Experience Required
  • 5+ years industrial experience in a design engineering role.
  • Strong evidence of project delivery in a design and/or analysis role.
  • Experience in using a 3D CAD package, ideally SolidWorks.
  • Experience in using an FEA system, ideally HyperWorks.
  • Experience in the application of composite materials in industry.
  • Energy and enthusiasm for tackling challenging problems.
  • Excellent team worker with strong organisational and planning skills.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, work well under pressure and adhere to project deadlines.
  • Highly effective communication and customer facing skills.
  • Ability to perform fundamental engineering calculations from first principles.
  • Experienced user of MS Office products including MS Project.
Qualifications
  • Legally able to work in the UK.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline.
  • At or working towards Chartered Engineering status with a recognised engineering body.
