Job description

Are you a skilled HGV professional who takes pride in delivering excellence on every journey? We’re looking for a Senior Logistics Driver (Class 1 – C+E) to join our team and play a key role in ensuring Dura Composites products reach customers safely, efficiently, and on time across the UK.

In this hands‑on role, you’ll operate a range of Class 1 vehicles, including 26-ton and drag/trailer combinations, while leading by example in safety, professionalism, and customer service. You’ll also provide guidance and support to fellow drivers, helping to maintain our reputation for reliability and quality.

If you’re an experienced HGV driver with a valid CPC and Digital Tachograph card, strong route planning skills, and a commitment to outstanding customer care — this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

Ready to take the wheel in your next challenge? Join a company that values safety, teamwork, and continuous development — with ongoing training in crane and sling operation, safety refreshers, and career progression opportunities.

Job Purpose: Responsible for delivering Dura Composites products nationwide using Class 1 (C+E) vehicles including 26-ton and drag/trailer combinations. You will lead, by example, to ensure safe, efficient, and customer‑focused delivery operations that represent the Dura Composites brand to the highest standard. This role requires a professional HGV driver with valid CPC and Digital Tachograph card, strong route planning awareness, and the ability to mentor and support Logistics Drivers working towards higher license levels.

This role includes occasional overnight stays as required by delivery routes and schedules. Sleeper cab or accommodation arrangements will be provided in line with company policy.

Training & Development: Ongoing company‑provided training will include crane and sling operation, safety refreshers, and progression to higher license categories where appropriate.

Key Duties
  • Deliver first‑class customer service in a friendly, professional manner always.
  • Represent Dura Composites with pride and professionalism during all customer interactions.
  • Review orders before departure to confirm completeness, condition, and right‑first‑time accuracy.
  • Assist with loading and securing materials for safe transport, following manual handling and lifting procedures.
  • Safely unload deliveries and provide courteous support at customer sites when required.
  • Communicate clearly with customers and the logistics team regarding delivery timings, delays, or reschedules.
  • Complete daily logs, delivery records, and photographic documentation using company systems (OBW / OneDrive).
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of distribution procedures (Goods In QC, Goods Out, SSOW, FSC COC, ISO standards).
  • Promote Dura’s reputation for reliability, safety, and excellent customer service through every delivery.
  • Support the Logistics Manager and wider team with routing, scheduling, and load‑planning efficiency.
Driver Safety & Vehicle Standards
  • Drive safely and legally at all times, complying with UK road transport regulations and the Highway Code.
  • Fully comply with Driver CPC, Digital Tachograph, and Working Time Directive regulations.
  • Conduct daily walk‑around vehicle checks, record defects, and ensure vehicles remain clean, roadworthy, and presentable.
  • Use GPS navigation and route planning to optimise delivery schedules and reduce downtime.
  • Ensure all loads are evenly distributed, safely secured, and within legal weight limits.
  • Take additional care when driving in adverse weather or on unfamiliar routes.
  • Ensure safe use of cranes, lifting accessories, and load‑handling equipment once trained and authorised.
  • Report any incidents, near misses, or defects immediately to the Logistics Manager.
  • For Senior Logistics Drivers: may be required to operate other Dura vehicles, including Class 2 or 7.5‑tonne units, as needed to support operational requirements.
Health & Safety
  • Always wear and maintain the correct PPE in accordance with company policy and SSOW.
  • Follow all site safety procedures, including safe‑loading and unloading practices at customer sites.
  • Ensure all lifting and handling equipment is used safely and maintained under PUWER and LOLER regulations.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards in the vehicle and at the Operations Centre.
  • Support departmental goals by using the correct tools and working to required deadlines.
  • Take personal responsibility for safety, reporting any hazards or unsafe behaviours promptly.
  • Full UK Class 1 (C+E) licence.
  • Valid Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph card.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience operating HGVs, ideally in a nationwide delivery environment.
  • Crane and sling training (PUWER/LOLER compliant) – or willingness to complete company training.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Detailed understanding of transport compliance, safe loading, and vehicle maintenance.
  • Good organisational and timekeeping skills.
  • CSCS card preferred, but not essential.
  • Ability to work independently, with initiative and accountability.
