We are looking for a Senior Java Developer to join our software development team to help us develop further our embedded banking and payments platform. Hybrid working in London or Malta.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Java Developer you will help deliver innovative technologies that make integrating banking and payments services as simple, flexible and accessible as any other API. You will work on many enhancements for our platform, shape its future, continuously raise the bar for embedded banking and payments, and help ship solutions quickly.

About You

The section below describes our ideal candidate; we value aptitude and passion. You bring extensive Java engineering experience working with design patterns and frameworks such as Spring and Micronaut.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in a similar role.
• Strong communication skills including technical documentation, code reviews, and cross‑functional collaboration.
• Great at communicating ideas and working in a team.
• A Java guru, with extensive knowledge and experience of associated technologies such as the Spring framework.
• Advanced knowledge of software design patterns.
• Experience with microservice‑based architectures and related tools and technologies such as Micronaut (or Spring Boot), REST (both implementing and consuming), and Kafka (or similar message broker technologies such as RabbitMQ).
• Keen on best engineering practices.
• Experience with TDD, CI/CD pipelines, and modern engineering practices.
• Proven ability to design scalable, maintainable solutions following SOLID principles.

Desirable Skills

• Experience with AI‑assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar).
• Experience in payments, fintech, or regulated industries.
• Knowledge of Micronaut framework.
• Experience with reactive programming (Project Reactor, RxJava).
• Familiarity with MongoDB, Redis, jOOQ, Flyway.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes or container orchestration.
• Understanding of security best practices in financial services.
