The Head of Leadership Communications is a vital role in the internal communications and engagement (IC&E) team. The role is responsible for delivering our programme of leadership communications to equip and engage leaders across the BBC.
Reporting to the Director of IC&E, the role ensures our leadership communications and engagement are of the highest quality and that it supports our leaders and managers to perform at their very best to deliver against our priorities. This role has a unique position right at the heart of the BBC and will have a direct relationship with the Director‑General and BBC Chair to help shape and execute their comms and visibility programmes across the organisation.
In addition, the role is responsible for leading, coaching, and mentoring a small but high‑performing team to deliver: world‑class leadership communications; a suite of core leadership channels and leadership editorial and publishing plan; write and execute group‑wide announcements on behalf of the Director‑General and members of the Executive team as required, and build outstanding partnerships with key stakeholders in HR (e.g. People & Organisational Development, People Experience), the Director‑General’s office and Chief Operating Officer in particular.
Internal Communications Engagement (IC&E) sits at the heart of the BBC. It connects our workforce to the BBC’s public purpose and mission and aligns everyone behind our vision and strategy. The IC&E team plays an instrumental role in helping to transform the BBC, a treasured national institution, at a critical moment as we look ahead to a new Director‑General and a new Charter agreement.
The role can be based in either London, Salford, Birmingham or in one of our devolved nation HQs in Cardiff, Glasgow, Belfast. It will require regular travel to other BBC bases and regular work in London.
