Senior or Principal Electrical Engineer – NUVIA UK
NUVIA UK is seeking a Senior or Principal Electrical Engineer to join the team on a staff or contracted basis. This is a home‑based role, although it would be beneficial if you are local to one of our offices (Glasgow, Warrington, Oxfordshire). Occasional site visits will be required.
The Electrical Engineer will be part of a multi‑disciplinary engineering team within the Approval Authority, directly supporting current operations and future programmes, including nuclear facilities and service sites.
Responsibilities
- Authoring, development, assessment, maintenance and management of Nuclear Infrastructure Design Substantiation documents.
- Authoring, development, assessment, maintenance and management of design changes/concessions.
- Presentation of design substantiations to nuclear safety committees.
- Production and development of Examination, Inspection, Maintenance & Testing (EIMT) schedules, operating procedures and results to satisfy design requirements and safety case through life.
- Producing/assessing Periodic Review of Safety reports.
- Providing advice and direction to internal and external stakeholders.
- Production of Independent Technical Review (ITA)/Independent Peer Review (IPR).
- Use a combination of general and specialist engineering knowledge and understanding to apply existing and emerging technology.
- Apply appropriate theoretical and practical methods to design, develop, manufacture, construct, commission, operate, maintain, decommission and re‑cycle engineering processes, systems, services and products in a nuclear/high risk environment.
- Producing robust technical justification to allow for relevant electrical design modifications to be authorised within a high hazard industry.
- Review technical reports and other safety case submissions from external contractors.
- Check and review calculations and technical documents written by other members of staff.
Qualifications
- Engineering degree in a relevant discipline.
- Experience in the design assessment of electrical installations in an HV or LV environment within nuclear, defence, marine or similar.
- Experience of producing robust technical justification to allow for relevant electrical design modifications to be authorised.
- Experience using a combination of general and specialist engineering knowledge and understanding to apply existing and emerging technology.
- Experience working on multi‑discipline projects providing electrical engineering input.
- Chartered Engineer.
- Experience applying appropriate theoretical and practical methods to design, develop, manufacture, construct, commission, operate, maintain, decommission and re‑cycle engineering processes, systems, services and products in a nuclear or similar high hazard industry.
- Familiarity with safety case development techniques e.g. HAZID/HAZOP studies.
