📍 Glasgow | Site-Based | Building Scotland's First Net Zero Hospital

Be part of a career-defining project with Laing O'Rourke as we deliver the transformational Monklands Replacement Project—Scotland's first Net Zero carbon hospital. We're looking for an experienced Senior Design Manager with contractor side healthcare experience to lead the delivery of the Architectural and Facades design packages on this major healthcare scheme, shaping modern, sustainable healthcare for future generations.

Your Role:
  • Design Managerswill coordinate day-to-day management of the architectural and facades packages, ensuring design outputs are aligned with programme, buildability, and compliance.
  • Senior Design Managerswill take a lead role in driving the strategy for these packages, providing technical oversight, managing key stakeholder relationships, and ensuring robust design governance from pre-construction through to handover.

Both roles are pivotal in embedding innovation, sustainability, and technical assurance within this ground-breaking healthcare project.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Managing the design process for architectural and façade elements, from early design development through delivery
  • Leading and coordinating design reviews and workshops with key stakeholders
  • Managing design queries, programme risks, and change control processes
  • Collaborating with specialist designers, supply chain partners, and NHS stakeholders
  • Driving innovation, quality, and sustainability within design solutions
  • (Senior DM level) Mentoring and supporting junior members of the design management team
What We're Looking For:
  • ✔️ Degree-qualified in architecture, engineering, or related discipline
  • ✔️ Experience delivering complex architectural and façade design packages on healthcare, life sciences, commercial, or complex infrastructure projects
  • ✔️ Strong communication and coordination skills, capable of engaging multiple stakeholders
  • ✔️ Previous experience working in live environments or complex site logistics (desirable)
  • ✔️ Passion for innovation, digital delivery (BIM), and sustainable design solutions
