Senior Consultant Engineer – Energy Engineering Manager

Equans UK & Ireland is looking for a Senior Consultant / Energy Engineering Manager to join our team in Central London on a hybrid, permanent and full‑time basis. Competitive salary of £45,000 – £65,000 plus a company vehicle or allowance and benefits package. Must be open to travel.

The Energy and Carbon Solutions (ECS) consulting division helps clients shape their operational plans to deliver net‑zero objectives and translates them into engineering management programmes through our project delivery and operations teams. Our team consists of commercially minded engineers who present attractive solutions that can be delivered by Equans as a turnkey net‑zero partner. Clients span manufacturing, industry, corporate, commercial, retail, heritage, transport, and public sector.

What will you deliver?
Accountabilities
  • Support effective team and project management, including project timelines, costs, profitability, and client needs.
  • Deliver technical reports and energy audits as part of the solution development process.
  • Proactively build client relationships to maintain a strong repeatable pipeline.
  • Support training of new starters within ECS.
  • Comply with EQUANS governance processes.
  • Provide industry thought leadership and represent the ECS team at industry events.
Operations and Solutions Achievement
  • Undertake energy audit activities, development, engineering, and conceptual design of energy projects.
  • Develop complex and dynamic numerical models of engineering and commercial aspects of energy project feasibility.
  • Ensure compliance with EQUANS quality assurance processes.
  • Communicate with stakeholders and brief on progress.
  • Support profitability and revenue targets through proactive time management and delivery efficiency.
  • Articulate key risks and benefits to key stakeholders.
  • Work with commercial and finance teams to develop profitable outcomes.
  • Provide subject‑matter expertise and continuity for projects handed over to the divisional projects team.
Sales Achievement
  • Develop low‑carbon and energy solutions opportunities through the sales process.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of EQUANS, industry, client, sector and competitor trends.
  • Provide thought leadership on behalf of EQUANS and represent EQUANS at events.
  • Work with internal teams (Sustainable FM, Digital & Energy Services, Places & Communities) to research and analyse prospective opportunities, markets, and propositions.
  • Support development of collateral, case studies and other sales materials.
  • Participate in marketing campaigns and events.

Qualifications or Required Experience
  • Technical knowledge of implementing energy solutions and understanding of building, commercial/industrial and manufacturing engineering services.
  • Energy‑related engineering or applied science degree.
  • Demonstrated technical and commercial modelling depth in at least two of: decarbonisation of heat, renewable energy, energy management and retrofit, industrial energy management, energy‑driven BMS, controls and analytics, net‑zero carbon programme delivery, district heating, energy & carbon data analytics.
  • Confidence and articulation in presenting technical and commercial cases to customers at management/decision‑maker level.
  • Experience presenting to organisations and individuals, both orally and in writing, complex technical issues clearly.
  • Problem resolution and critical thinking skills.
  • Capacity to mobilise and engage people; develop and leverage your network.
  • Experience working in multi‑disciplinary teams and matrix organisations on major projects and programmes.
  • Excellent understanding of the energy, climate change and/or sustainability sector.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills with ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Self‑motivated, resourceful, able to work independently without constant direction.
  • A passion for accelerating the net‑zero agenda.
Desirable
  • Master’s degree in an energy‑related engineering.
  • Experience and strong interest in contributing to sales proposals and marketing plans.
  • Track record of successfully implementing innovation in products or services.
  • Chartered Energy Engineer/Manager or on track; knowledge of regulatory environment (CCA, GRI, CDP, SBTi, CCL, ESOS, UK ETS, SECR etc.).
