Ark Alexandra Academy is seeking to appoint a Science Technician to support our teachers in delivering high quality practical work across both of our campuses. The role will maintain excellent standards of health and safety in all areas of the department and support a combined programme for all students, including triple science for the most able.

Location: Ark Alexandra Academy, Hastings, East Sussex

Start date: As as possible

Hoursb> 36 hours per week, term time only plus 1 extra week (40 weeks per year)

Contract type: Part-time, term-time only

Responsibilities

• Support teachers in delivering high quality practical work.

• Support the procurement and maintenance of laboratory and practical equipment.
• Provide practical assistance to students and staff during lessons and extracurricular activities.

Qualifications and Experience

• Experience, knowledge or a keen interest in a science‑related field.
• Flexible, enthusiastic, well‑organised and adaptable with an eye for detail.
• Knowledge of COSHH procedures and CLEAPSS or Health & Safety involving hazardous substances.
• Ability to deal with minor incidents including first aid and undertake training.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with young people and adults.
• Team player able to support other colleagues with resilience, calm and professionalism under pressure.
