WSET Level II is mandatory, while Level III is preferred.

Qualifications

  • WSET Level II required. WSET Level III and above preferred.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a geographically dispersed territory.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver's licence and the ability to travel extensively.

Overview

General Wine and Liquor Company seeks a dynamic and results-driven Sales professional to manage and expand our customer base in a designated territory within our heartland of Hampshire, Surrey, Berkshire, Greater London. Home based, within easy commutable distance of our Liphook Head Office, this role is responsible for nurturing relationships with approximately 100 key customers and driving £1.5 million in annual sales. This position demands a strong understanding of the wine industry, exceptional sales acumen, and the ability to build lasting partnerships with our valued clients.


Detailed Responsibilities


  • Territory Sales Manager:

    • Take ownership for approximately 100 assigned customers by developing strategic account plans within the assigned territory.

    • Conduct regular on-site visits to customers via journey plan adherence, fostering strong relationships, understanding their unique needs and selling our range of wines, spirits, soft drinks.

    • Analyse sales data and market trends to identify growth opportunities within the territory.

    • Proactively address customer enquiries, resolve issues, and ensure exceptional customer satisfaction.

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer records within the CRM system.



  • Sales Growth and Business Development

    • Achieve and exceed annual sales targets of £1.5 million within the designated territory.

    • Identify and pursue new business sales opportunities, expanding General Wine Company's customer base and market share.

    • Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations, conduct tastings, develop wine range listings, all whilst showcasing our diverse wine and spirits portfolio.

    • Negotiate pricing, contracts, payment terms and collections, to meet our profitability targets and exceed customer satisfaction.



  • Wine Expertise and Market Knowledge:

    • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of General Wine Company's product range and the broader wine and spirits industry.

    • Provide expert advice and recommendations to customers, assisting in wine selection.

    • Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and regional market dynamics.

    • Attend wine tastings and industry events to enhance product knowledge and network with clients.



  • Administrative and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate and detailed records of sales activities and customer interactions.

    • Prepare and submit regular sales forecasts and reports to the Head of Sales.

    • Manage sales expenses and adhere to company policies.

    • Deal with customer complaints, and report these to the General Manager.

    • Ensure all sales are conducted within the legal guidelines for the sale of alcohol.
