The Job

Carter Jonas are seeking a qualified Chartered Surveyor to join their growing Rural Agency Team in Cambridge. You’ll work alongside an experienced local team and benefit from a national network of professionals, delivering a wide range of rural agency work including farm and estate sales, landlord & tenant matters, professional advice, and strategic client consultancy.

Carter Jonas are open to all different types of experience, whether you are just qualified or 20+ years’ experience, there’s a place for you! Pay and packages will be tailored to your experience level.

New to the rural sector? No problem! Carter Jonas are open to candidates from outside traditional rural work, including those with specialist or sector-focused experience, who are looking to relocate or refocus into rural agency.

Job Duties
  • Managing and delivering a range of rural agency instructions, including the sale and purchase of farms, estates, land, and rural residential/commercial properties.
  • Providing strategic disposal advice to landowners, farmers, and estate clients, including market appraisals and recommendations to maximise asset value.
  • Undertaking the full marketing process for rural assets — preparing sales particulars, coordinating photography, arranging advertising, and managing online listings. Handling all aspects of applicant and buyer management, including enquiries, viewings, negotiation, and progression of sales through to completion.
  • Providing professional agency advice including landlord & tenant matters, rent reviews, lease advisory and general rural consultancy.
  • Supporting clients with acquisitions by sourcing opportunities, undertaking due diligence, and advising on values, potential, and risks.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with existing clients while developing new business opportunities across East Anglia.
  • Liaising with planning, development, commercial, and rural management teams to identify cross-selling opportunities and deliver joined-up advice.
  • Keeping up to date with rural market trends, emerging legislation, and sector insights to support robust client recommendations.
  • Ensuring all instructions comply with RICS standards, internal quality procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participation in the implementation of our Vision 2030 to grow the business.
What We’re Looking For
  • Ideally you will be a member of the RICS
  • Ideally you will be a Fellow of the CAAV or working towards this qualification
  • We’d prefer if you come from an agency / farming background
  • You must have a full Driving Licence and access to your own vehicle
