A UK police force is offering a rejoining scheme for former Home Office officers after retirement. Eligible candidates can return to policing as warranted officers after a minimum break. Key qualifications include relevant skills and no ongoing investigations. Extensive benefits are available, including a pension scheme and professional development opportunities.
West Midlands Police are pleased to offer all Home Office Officers that have served 30 years the opportunity to retire and rejoin via the 30+ Scheme. The scheme allows eligible police officers to retire and return to policing as a warranted officer after a minimum of a 31‑day break in service. Officers who retire and then re‑join are eligible to take their lump‑sum and draw their pension until they return. The scheme also allows officers to re‑join and contribute to the 2015 scheme if they wish.
West Midlands Police is the second‑largest police force in the country, serving the three major cities of Birmingham, Coventry and Wolverhampton, along with the districts of Sandwell, Walsall, Solihull and Dudley. The force handles more than 2,000 emergency calls every day, patrols the streets and responds to incidents 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Recent improvements have reduced overall crime, improved call response times and increased arrest rates. As a leading employer, we need the right people to serve and protect our communities.
West Midlands Police is a Disability Confident Leader – the highest level an organisation can achieve under the scheme run by the Department of Work and Pensions. We operate a Disability Confident Interview Scheme – all candidates who declare a disability and meet the essential criteria for the role will be offered an interview.
In certain recruitment situations such as high‑volume, seasonal and high‑peak times, the employer may choose to limit the overall numbers of interviews offered to disabled people and non‑disabled people.
“Diversity and Inclusion Vision: Maximise the potential of people from all backgrounds through a culture of fairness and inclusion to deliver the best service for our communities.”
