Retail Customer Assistant - Retail & Cafe at Royal Bolton Hospital

Retail Voluntary Service invites you to apply for the Retail Customer Assistant role at Royal Bolton Hospital, Minerva Road, BL4 0JR. This part‑time, fixed‑term position (ending 28 February 2026) offers a salary of £12.43 per hour (full‑time equivalent £22,638 per annum).

Hospital cafés and shops are an essential part of the NHS, providing beverages, healthy foods and supporting volunteer action in hospitals and communities.

Responsibilities
  • Provide friendly, efficient service at all times.
  • Welcome customers, inform them about specials or new products, answer questions and accept orders and payments.
  • Operate the till and manage cash reconciliation.
  • Maintain high cleanliness, complying with health and safety and food hygiene standards.
  • Replenish stock, order supplies as required.
  • Prepare hot and cold drinks (café).
  • Serve freshly made food such as cake, sandwiches, pastries.
  • Receive and verify deliveries, assist with accurate stock checks.
  • Engage with volunteers, supporting them as needed.
  • Pushing loaded trolleys of stock as required.
Qualifications
  • Previous retail or café experience is advantageous; training will be provided.

Working Hours

12 hours per week, 2–3 variable shifts across the week. Weekend work is required. Paid overtime may be available during busy periods.
