Residential Childcare Worker - Waking Nights

We’re looking for dedicated Waking Night Residential Childcare Workers to join our caring, experienced team in Formby.

About us:

Family Care is a family‑owned social care provider working therapeutically with children for over 30 years, committed to creating a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment where every child and young person can thrive.

About the role:

As a Waking Night RCW, you will play a key role in ensuring the overnight safety and well‑being of the children in our care. Working as part of a therapeutic team, you’ll contribute to a calm and secure environment where young people can feel protected and respected, even while they sleep.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Remain awake and vigilant for the duration of your shift ensuring young people are safeguarded throughout the night
  • Undertake domestic duties including cooking and cleaning identified on the daily handover and passed to you by the Team Leader at the beginning of your shift
  • Maintain a log of events throughout the course of your shift and prepare handover ready for staff in the morning
  • Deliver personal care when guided by the young person’s care plan
  • Be responsible for the security of the building for the duration of your shift
  • Participate in training as directed by your line manager and, if applicable, complete a diploma in line with Children’s Home Regulations 2015

What we are looking for:

  • Ideally have previous Residential Childcare experience
  • Experience with Learning disabilities or mental health support for adults & children is desirable
  • Work on a Night shift/Rota basis - Waking Night shifts (152 hours per month)
  • An enhanced DBS certificate will be required upon appointment
