A family run company, Magnetic Shields Limited (MSL) is the industry leader in the design and manufacture of magnetically shielded products and rooms. Our brand new factory unit and fibre laser with full stock automation more than doubles our production capacity and throughput. This period of expansion is a very exciting time for the company and we are looking to speak to applicants interested in joining us in our team as a QUALITY ENGINEER.

We are leading specialists in the design, manufacture and installation of bespoke magnetic shielding solutions and magnetically shielded rooms, and have an expanding customer base throughout the UK, Europe, USA and Asia. With a manufacturing facility in Staplehurst, Kent fully equipped with the latest technology, we are able to provide our customers with the highest level of service and quality. All of our manufacturing processes, including heat treatment, are integrated in our production plant.

This is a hands‑on role that would suit an experienced Quality Professional with a strong background in quality control and in process improvement within a manufacturing environment.

The job role is responsible for promoting a quality culture throughout the organisation; liaising with colleagues and key stakeholders to maintain agreed standards both to internal and customer requirements. Within this role you will be responsible for ensuring all aspects of day‑to‑day inspection duties are met, along with defining and implementation of continual improvement targets within the quality department.

Key Tasks/Duties of this role:
  • Raising of internal and external non‑conformances, investigating the root causes and co‑ordinating the implementation of the permanent corrective actions.
  • Co‑ordinate, plan and conduct regular internal audits.
  • Creation of key documentation.
  • Assisting with ISO 9001 management system duties, including the creation of process flows, WI’s and SOP’s.
  • Liaising with external stakeholders over quality concerns, concessions and continuous improvement.
  • Managing quality targets, generating, and maintaining KPI’s for the business.
  • Assisting with the Maintaining of the Calibration System.
  • Assisting with the implementation & monitoring of key Quality Controls (PFMEA’s/ 8D/FAIRs).
Essential skills:
  • Minimum 2 years of Quality Experience ideally in Manufacturing.
  • Experience of fine limit sheet metal inspection.
  • A good knowledge of engineering drawings, tolerances and first principle measuring techniques.
  • Experience of raising non‑conformance reports and conducting subsequent investigations/actions to establish root causes.
  • Experience and thorough understanding of ISO 9001.
  • Good communication skills must be able to relay information internally & externally.
  • Able to multi‑task and work on different projects simultaneously.
  • Strong organisational skills with an attention to detail and a focused approach to work.
  • Proficient IT skills and use of ERP systems.
  • Experience of CMM.
  • Experience of auditing to ISO 9001 level.
  • Experience of PPAP process would be an advantage.
