Our Smart Hub is an audience-focused team working across innovative publishing lists on imprints WH Allen, Witness Books, Ebury Edge, Ebury Press, and Flight Books. We publish prize-winning bestsellers by global writers, thinkers, journalists, and cultural figures across genres like history, politics, literary memoir, nature-writing, high performance, and self-development. The role

Ebury’s Smart Hub seeks a creative, experienced, and proactive PR professional with experience working on conversation-starting books or entertainment brands to join our award-winning communications team as a publicist. You will collaborate with creative publishing colleagues in a friendly and inclusive environment, during an exciting period of growth for the UK’s largest dedicated non-fiction publisher.

Key responsibilities
  • Create and implement ambitious, strategic PR campaigns and events for authors and titles across various non-fiction genres.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders, including sales, marketing, editorial, rights, international colleagues, authors, and agents.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with high-profile media, bookshops, and event partners.
  • Contribute to the acquisition of new books by providing PR feedback in meetings and pitches, and input into the strategic priorities of the Smart Hub.

  • Proven success in creating standout publicity campaigns within publishing or content-driven environments.
  • Strong writing skills for press materials, event organization, and media networking.
  • Well-established media contacts and curiosity about expanding your network across genres.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects with different timelines.
  • Creative thinking to generate buzz and drive book sales aligned with strategic goals.

Salary

Circa £35,000, dependent on skills and experience, plus bonus and benefits.

Hybrid working

While our UK offices are spaces to connect and collaborate, we offer flexibility. You will be expected to attend in-person meetings at our Embassy Gardens office at least 2 days a week (Tuesday and Thursday). Some work outside regular hours, such as evenings and weekends, may be required. We are happy to discuss this during the recruitment process.
