The Role

An opportunity has become availablefor a Psychologist - Senior (GeriatricEvaluation and Management and Acute Cognitive Unit) to join Gold CoastHealth (GCH) where the focus of our 13 000-strong team is on providingworld-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern NewSouth Wales region of Australia.

You will
  • Deliver high level psychologicalassessment, diagnosis, formulation and intervention
  • Provide profession specificadvice regarding management of patients and service delivery
  • Use and model high level problemsolving and critical thinking to resolve complex problems
  • Actively participate in requireddata monitoring and collection
About you

To be successful in this position youwill require:

  • Tertiarydegree in Psychology (or equivalent)
  • AHPRARegistration
  • Evidenceof vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinatedagainst - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosisscreening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • DriverLicence
  • Declarationof serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • CriminalHistory Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

About Us

The Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM)unit provides patient-centred, evidence based multidisciplinary assessment andmanagement for older persons living with comorbiditiesand/or complex needs. The Acute Cognitive Unit (ACU) provides a safe, suitableand secure clinical environment to reduce severity of behavioural andpsychological symptoms in patients with cognitive impairment, dementia and/ordelirium. The ACU adjoins the GEM unit to ensure safe and efficient transferof patients once the acute phase of their behavioural and psychologicalsymptoms of dementia has stabilised.
