Project Quantity Surveyor - Water Sector

Role description

We are currently seeking personable, enthusiastic and energetic Quantity Surveyors to join our Cost & Commercial Management team to support our continuing growth within our resilience business for a Global Client in the Water Sector. You will be a Cost Consultant in Reading and London, helping deliver iconic projects, delivering transformational outcomes for clients, and contributing to sustainability.

The role sits within our Resilience GBA, where we work to protect natural environments and water resources while powering our world for future generations.

Role accountabilities
  • Work as part of a team alongside the Project Manager and Senior Cost Consultant to administer the post‑contract administration of NEC contracts, including assessment of contractual change and payments.
  • Liaise with external contractors and consultants.
  • Support suppliers in providing accurate and validated Project Cost and Financial Forecasts information.
  • Provide commercial support, advice and guidance through all gateways to minimise cost and scope changes.
  • Contract support, advice and guidance.
  • Pre‑contract support – including estimating and procurement.
  • Risk and opportunity (efficiency) – support the Client Project Manager in validating costs for the Project Efficiency register.
  • Participate in lessons‑learnt workshops to capture value, benefits and considerations for the future.
  • Participate in Risk and value management meetings as required.
  • Audit and agree on Final Accounts.

  • Hybrid working with requirements for client travel between London and Reading.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Demonstrate self‑management and prioritisation skills with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Show an ability to learn and develop.
  • Good knowledge of specialised fields, including construction processes and cost and commercial management in a consultancy setting.
  • NEC Contract experience.
  • Possess the skills to actively support the internal team and manage junior staff on projects typically ranging between £1m and £20m.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including influencing stakeholders and third parties.
  • Ideally degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant subject.
  • Ideally appropriate professional body membership, MRICS or working towards chartership.
  • Experience in water and wastewater and/or regulated industries is desirable.
