A high voltage engineering company in the UK is seeking a Project Manager to oversee high-voltage cable installations and ensure project delivery to high standards. This role requires leading teams, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The Project Manager will primarily work remotely but must be available for onsite activities as needed. Ideal candidates will have project management qualifications and experience in engineering environments. A commitment to health and safety is essential.
Ventus Energy is a High Voltage Engineering company with a growing market share across the renewables sector.
We specialise in delivering high-voltage services with an uncompromising focus on safety and quality.
About the role:
Ventus Energy are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join a talented team of personnel within our Projects Division; responsible for delivering high-voltage cable installations, jointing, termination and testing and fibre optic installations across a range of HV infrastructure projects.
A Project Manager at Ventus Energy is responsible for planning, executing and delivering Ventus Energy projects safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Projects are carried out both onshore and offshore, therefore with this position, there may be a requirement to go or be based offshore.
While predominantly this will be a remote role, there may be the requirement to become site-based for larger scale projects for a period of time.
Location: Hybrid working, remote possible but must be able to attend our North Shields office when required. Due to this requirement UK based applicants only.
Key Responsibilities:
Project delivery & planning
Lead end-to-end project delivery from mobilisation through execution to close-out, ensuring scope, programme, and contractual requirements are met.
Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and resource requirements, updating as priorities and constraints evolve.
Coordinate internal teams and subcontractors to ensure work progresses to plan across HV and FO activities
Maintain a working understanding of relevant technical disciplines to collaborate effectively with internal subject matter experts (SMEs) and field teams.
Team leadership
Lead and support project teams through effective task allocation, performance oversight, and day-to-day problem solving.
Identify skills gaps and contribute to training requirements and development plans.
Commercial, cost & change control
Own project cost control, forecasting, and financial reporting; manage spend against budget and implement corrective actions where needed.
Identify and manage risks early, and drive opportunities, variations, and change control through to agreement and closure.
Reporting, governance & close-out
Produce clear project reporting, including KPI tracking, progress updates, and action management.
Deliver complete and accurate close-out documentation packs, including evidence capture/photographic records where required.
Capture lessons learned and feed them back into the Projects Department, HSEQ and tendering activities where relevant.
HSEQ leadership
Champion HSEQ across delivery: safety leadership, risk mitigation, support for audits, and timely reporting of incidents and observations.
Ensure safe systems of work are embedded and maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
Stakeholder & client management
Liaise effectively with all internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment throughout delivery.
Build and maintain strong client relationships, proactively addressing issues and escalating appropriately when required.
Development & Support
We recognise the right candidate may bring relevant experience from a different sector. On-the-job training will be provided to support the learning curve—particularly for candidates with strong project delivery capability who may be new to offshore wind requirements.
