Advanced Manufacturing (Sheffield) Limited (AML) is an advanced machining supplier focused on aerofoil and rotative components. We are at the leading edge of machining technologies and are dedicated to delivering efficiency and reduced cycle times for our clients in the aerospace sector. Our advanced milling, turning and 5‑axis capacity enables us to machine a wide range of products including bespoke ring, casing, gearbox, aerofoil and aerostructure components. To‑date, we have manufactured components for Rolls‑Royce, Boeing, Siemens, Bombardier and are looking to expand our machining capabilities over the coming year.

The Position
  • Manufacture components using technical packs provided by engineering team
  • Provide feedback on process to engineering team to aid with improvement of conformance, cycle times, operator interactions.
  • Update where necessary machine parameters to increase product conformance or cycle times and complete cycle ensuring changes are made in engineering and controlled on machine to ensure changes aren’t lost in the update cycle.
  • Work on NPI processes gearing towards production to ensure a stable, efficient process.
  • Carry out Problem Solving activity and route cause investigations to non‑conformance
  • Carry out set up reduction activities to increase efficiency in process, feedback with Manufacturing engineers on changes made.
  • Develop standard process with Manufacturing engineers for product groups.
  • Train operators in process and sign off machine driving licences/SOPs and keep training matrix up to date for all training delivered.
  • Create and Update SOPs.
  • Lead Continuous Improvement activity to factory working areas to ensure wastes are minimised.
  • Carry out 5S activity to ensure processes flow in line with manufacturing requirements.
  • Become process experts across the shopfloor – be able to complete all tasks that may be required throughout the factory – supporting all areas, such as inspection, stores, setters and tool building where required.
  • Operation of Manual lathes and mills to complete fixture work/rework components.
  • Liase with engineering to design and develop reworking processes for products where required.
  • Assist Maintenance technicians carrying out machine alignments checks.
  • Attend monthly engineering review meetings to provide feedback from production.
  • Comply with all applicable health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and legal obligations, including those relevant to CNC machining and high‑reliability manufacturing.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment, reporting any hazards, incidents, near‑misses, or unsafe behaviours promptly and accurately.
  • Use and maintain Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriately, ensuring correct use in line with task and risk requirements.
  • Participate in mandatory EHS training, emergency response drills, and company health and wellbeing initiatives. Support a culture of continuous improvement in safety and sustainability, including contributing ideas for reducing risk, waste, and environmental impact. Demonstrate environmental awareness by following procedures for responsible use of materials, recycling, and energy conservation.
