WHY JOIN THE TEAM?

BBC Studios Kids & Family Productions covers a wide breadth of content for children, including Unscripted, Blue Peter, CBeebies Specials, Live Action units such as The Dumping Ground, Odd Squad, and Animation titles such as Supertato, Maisy, and Rafi the Wishing Wizard.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT
  • Learn what it takes to put together a TV programme.
  • Gain knowledge across Unscripted, Animation and Live Action TV productions.
  • Work with teams making TV for children.
  • Contribute to idea development for pitching.

You’ll learn on–and off–the job. This includes placing at the BBC and attending learning blocks (up to a week) with our learning provider, working towards a Level 3 Production Assistant qualification. Learning blocks mix in‑person and virtual delivery.

YOUR SKILLS AND ELIGIBILITY

We’re looking for passion to deliver world‑class content and operational excellence. Qualifications are not the focus; we value potential and transferable strengths.

  • Interest in children’s television content and how children consume media.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills.
  • A professional approach, calm and flexible when plans change.
  • Initiative and self‑directed personal development.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
  • Be 18 years old or over by September 2026.
  • Have lived in the UK continuously for the last 3 years prior to the start.
  • Be legally eligible to work full‑time in the UK for the entire duration of the apprenticeship.
  • Not currently enrolled in another apprenticeship programme.
  • No prior learning required.

For candidates under 19 years at 8 September 2026: you must have Maths and English GCSE Grade 4/C or equivalent, or National 5 (Scotland) C or Functional Skills Level 2, or achieve Functional Skills Level 2 before the end of the apprenticeship.
