Job summary

An engineering-led organization in Kettering is seeking a Product Development Engineer to design and develop innovative engineered products from concept through to manufacturing. This role offers hands-on involvement throughout the product lifecycle and requires strong knowledge in product design, especially with sheet metal and fabrication. Proficient use of SolidWorks and AutoCAD is essential for executing detailed designs, BOMs, and ensuring compliance with regulations. This position is site based and seeks an effective communicator and problem-solver.

Qualifications

• Experience in product design engineering.

Responsibilities

• Design new and existing products using SolidWorks.
• Drive continuous improvement of products and designs.
• Create and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Ensure designs are compliant with regulations.
• Support project execution liaising with teams.

Job Description

An engineering‑led organisation is seeking a Product Development Engineer to design and develop innovative engineered products from concept through to manufacture and commissioning. This role offers hands‑on involvement across the full product lifecycle and close collaboration with manufacturing, project, and commercial teams.

Job Responsibilities

• Design new and existing products using SolidWorks, producing 3D models and detailed manufacturing drawings
• Drive continuous improvement of products, designs, and manufacturing processes
• Create and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical documentation
• Ensure all designs are fit for purpose, value engineered, and compliant with statutory and H&S requirements
• Support project execution byblico liaising with internal departments and, where required, customers

Skills Required

• Proven experience in product / design engineering
• Strong knowledge of sheet metal and fabricated product design
• Proficient in SolidWorks (sheet metal and weldments) and AutoCAD 2D
• Creative problem-solver with strong communication and organisational skills
