Job 1 – Leicestershire – CNC Setter / Operator

Robertson Recruitment are working with a leading name in the quarrying and aggregates industry in the Leicestershire area supplying high-quality materials and engineering solutions across the UK and beyond. You’ll be responsible for working in the machine shop as a CNC operator / setter working to produce high-quality metallic and non‑metallic components.

Working hours: Rotational shift pattern. Shift 1.

Job 2 – Redditch – Permanent CNC Operator/Setter (4‑day week)

Job 3 – Generic UK Manufacturer – CNC Setter Operator

The Role: CNC Setter Operator

Set and operate CNC milling, turning, or other production machines using a variety of operating systems.

Plan and specify tooling requirements including jigs, fixtures, tool changes, offset adjustments and minor program edits.

Work with the Coordinator and Engineer to ensure machines run efficiently with optimum cycle times.

Inspect components (first‑offs and in‑cycle) to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications.

Adhere to production schedules, maintain accurate documentation and traceability.

Support and where required, train other setters/operators.

Report faults to the Coordinator/Engineer and help drive continuous improvement.

Maintain a safe working environment, good housekeeping and 5S standards.

The Ideal Person: CNC Setter Operator

Good GCSE/A Level education (Grade A–C) or Apprenticeship Level 3.

2+ years’ experience in a factory environment, ideally setting/operating VMC/VMG machinery.

Experience using a variety of measuring equipment.

Competent with Microsoft Office.

Strong problem‑solving skills and close attention to detail.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Positive, flexible and adaptable team player with a professional “can‑do” attitude.

Job 4 – Cannock – CNC Setter

We are seeking a skilled CNC Setter to join a precision engineering company in Cannock. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, testing and implementing programmes for CNC machines to produce high‑quality components. This role requires a strong understanding of fabrication processes, mechanical knowledge.

The Job Role

  • Set up CNC machines, including selecting appropriate tooling and materials handling procedures.
  • Interpret technical drawings and specifications to produce accurate programmes aligned with project requirements.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on CNC equipment, including milling machines and other programmable logic controllers.
  • Collaborate with the manufacturing team to ensure efficient workflow, quality standards and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Conduct inspections of machined parts to verify dimensions and tolerances using hand tools and measurement devices.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of programmes, modifications and machine settings for future reference.

Experience/Requirements

  • Proven experience in CNC Milling
  • Fanuc control knowledge is essential
  • Knowledge of Leadwell machine is advantageous
  • Mechanical knowledge of materials handling, tooling selection, and machining processes.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations relevant to machining tolerances and measurements.
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in programme development and machine setup.

The Package

Job 5 – Southam – CNC Setter/Operator

We are currently recruiting a CNC Setter/Operator to operate and set parts and components programmed in CAM, to be manufactured on 5 Axis CNC Machines.

Salary

  • Salary up to 32,000
  • Private medical insurance after 6 month probationary
  • Discretionary annual bonus
  • Holiday: 31 days (inclusive of bank holidays)
  • Monday to Thursday - 8:30am to 5:00pm, Friday - 8:30am to 4:00pm

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operating and setting of HAAS 3 and 5 Axis
  • Setting tooling / work-holding for jobs
  • Operating CNC machines, ensuring parts are to drawing and making any adjustments necessary to program.
  • Changing out jobs, material and tooling for production
  • Cleaning and de‑burring components from machining ready for inspection.
  • Producing components efficiently to the required standards
  • Ensuring aspects of machine shop such as tooling, work holding and planning are continually developed
  • Stock control and material ordering

Skills/Experience Required

  • Minimum of three years proven experience in a similar role/similar industry essential
  • HAAS / Fanuc experience, however other experience will be considered
  • Comprehensive experience with 5 Axis machining
  • Quoting machining time and component costing
  • Experience with machining various materials such as Aluminium, Mild steel and Stainless steel
  • Experience using cavity and custom form tools

Job 6 – Coventry – CNC Machinist (Miller)

Location: Coventry

Salary: £15.29 per hour (increasing to £15.79 after 3 months)

Working Hours: Monday to Thursday, with a choice of two shifts:

  • Shift A: 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Shift B: 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Job Summary

The CNC Machinist (Miller) is responsible for setting and operating CNC machine centres to produce precision‑machined components. The successful candidate will ensure that all manufactured parts comply with engineering drawings, approved documentation and strict quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Machine Operation and Setup: Set up and operate CNC Milling Machine Centres, using Fanuc and G‑Code controls, to produce precision components.
  • Programming: Generate and amend CNC machine programmes as needed to achieve the best output.
  • Reading and Interpretation: Accurately read and interpret engineering drawings to understand specifications, tolerancing and manufacturing requirements.
  • Inspection and Quality Control:
    • Use various inspection equipment, such as micrometres, Verniers, and standard gauges (including Rok‑it, plug and gap gauges), to check parts.
    • Take responsibility for your own in‑process and final inspection, ensuring all products meet the required quality standards.
  • Tooling Management:
    • Identify and obtain the necessary tooling, fixtures, and machine programme requirements in advance to reduce machine downtime.
    • Maintain rough and finish milling, drilling, tapping, reaming and finish bore tooling.
  • Mentorship and Support: Assist or instruct other operators with machine setups, tooling and cutting details to maximise programme efficiency.
  • Maintenance: Carry out routine maintenance tasks, including lubrication, cutting fluid checks and machine cleaning, at the required frequencies.
  • Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks and other issues that may affect the quality and deadlines of machined components.
  • Health and Safety: Adhere to all health, safety and environmental regulations and procedures within the work area.

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience as a CNC Miller, with strong skills in setting and operating CNC milling machines.
  • Proficiency with Fanuc and G‑Code controls is essential.
  • Excellent ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
  • Experience using inspection equipment such as micrometres, Verniers and gauges.
  • A meticulous and methodical approach to work, with high attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently when required.
  • A proactive attitude towards problem‑solving and process improvement.
