Overview

We are seeking an energetic, flexible, and friendly Porter / General Maintenance Assistant to join our Estate & Facilities team. This is a hands-on role requiring physical fitness and a proactive approach to maintaining the fabric of the school. You will take pride in your work, notice areas for improvement, and respond to tasks with initiative.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with setting up and clearing down school events
  • Provide porterage support, including delivering parcels and helping parents with luggage at term start/end
  • Direct traffic and manage car parking during busy times
  • Carry out day-to-day maintenance tasks and basic DIY as directed
  • Take utility meter readings and collect materials when required
  • Drive school vehicles when necessary
  • Secure buildings after events and ensure Health & Safety standards are met
  • Support the team during major school events (e.g., Speech Day, Christmas Carol Service)

Additional duties may include unlocking/locking the site and weekend work for events or lettings.


Person Specification

  • Physically fit and comfortable with regular manual handling
  • A strong team player with excellent communication skills
  • Able to work independently and use initiative
  • Interested in learning new skills and carrying out varied maintenance tasks
  • Competent IT literacy preferred
  • Driving licence desirable
  • A positive attitude and sense of humour will help you thrive in this collaborative environment
