Description

We’re Pod – one of the UK’s leading EV charging providers, trusted by over 250,000 customers and powering more than 5 million miles every single day. But behind the numbers is a team of passionate people working together to shape a smarter, more sustainable future.

At Pod, we’re on a mission to make living with an electric vehicle easy and accessible for everyone. As we continue to scale, we’re expanding our Platform Engineering team — the powerhouse behind our cloud infrastructure, reliability, and internal developer tools.

We’re looking for inquisitive and collaborative Platform Engineers who are passionate about cloud technologies, automation, and improving the developer experience across Pod.

We started off in 2009 as Pod Point, helping people make the switch to electric as EVs began to hit the road. Today, we’re leading the way into a smarter energy future. Now part of the EDF Family, a global leader in low‑carbon energy, we're giving people and communities the power move confidently through electrification.

We’re proud to be the trusted charging partner for leading automotive brands like Mercedes, Jaguar Land Rover, BMW, and Kia; home builders Barratt and Bellway; and retail giants including Tesco. Our smart charging solutions don’t just support EV drivers — they help balance the grid, lower costs, and make clean energy accessible to everyone.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and optimise AWS infrastructure, with a focus on security, cost efficiency, and architecture patterns.
  • Work closely with other engineering teams (like Commercial, Product, and Tech) to design and implement AWS patterns and ensure adoption across the business.
  • Support the transition towards SRE practices, including observability, monitoring, and alerting for production systems, and contribute to a growing serverless environment, building tools and frameworks to enable other teams to operate independently and securely.
  • Get hands‑on with Go (Golang) development and automation, or learn it on the job if you’re experienced in another language.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively across teams to identify areas for improvement and propose solutions.
Qualifications
  • Strong experience with AWS (EC2, Lambda, VPCs, IAM, CloudWatch, etc.).
  • Excellent problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Comfortable engaging with non‑platform teams and helping them adopt new architectural patterns.
  • Familiarity or interest in serverless architectures and Go programming.
  • Experience with Linux environments.Awareness or exposure to SRE concepts — observability, monitoring, and alerting.
  • It would be a bonus if you have experience with GCP and a willingness to cross‑train.
