Job summary

A healthcare provider is seeking a Physiotherapy Assistant to join their dedicated in-patient team. You will support patients' rehabilitation and mobility, treating them per protocols set by physiotherapists. Job Summary

Physiotherapy Assistant – Band 2, Permanent, 1X 37.5 hours per week

We are looking for motivated, caring individuals with excellent communication skills to work within our dynamic in‑patient Physiotherapy team to deliver a high‑quality service to patients on general medical wards.

Main duties of the job
  • To undertake specific support work to aid with the rehabilitation and mobility of patients.
  • To treat patients (often unsupervised) according to set treatment protocols and individual treatment programmes as identified by a physiotherapist.
  • Work with direct and indirect supervision, reporting back patient progress and informing physiotherapist of any problems.
  • To assist in the general administration and equipment needs of the physiotherapy department autonomously.

Person Specification

Essential

Qualifications:

  • G.C.S.E's or equivalent including A‑C and above in English Language and Maths
  • NVQ level II or equivalent
Experience:
  • Previous experience in caring for patients in a hospital or care setting
  • A good understanding of discharge processes
  • An understanding of social impacts on patient journeys

Skills:

  • Ability to deal with general public including those with communication/language barriers
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as a member of a team
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate with patient's wide range of personalities including those with impaired communication abilities

  • Experience of providing physiotherapy interventions to patients

Desirable
